The redistricting amendment would give Virginia voters the final say on whether the Commonwealth's congressional maps are fair, transparent, and representative of voters' voices.
Trump and MAGA-controlled legislatures have been rigging their maps. This measure will enact a temporary, emergency effort counter their between-census gerrymandering.

Jen Kiggans once again missed an opportunity to stand up for our Constitution and the rule of law. Instead, she responded automatically with a dishonest defense in support of Trump's law-breaking.
Ignoring the fact that Venezuela, despite its corruption and illegal activities, is not a major source of illegal drugs in the United States, Kiggans said, "for too long, Americans have suffered the consequences of poisonous drugs funneled into our country by this illegal regime, and this operation marks a concrete step toward putting an end to that threat"
We have no love for Maduro, but you don't have to seek Democratic sources to find the truth about the Venezuelan drug trade The libertarian think-tank Cato Institute, in an article that also points out Trump's absurdly dishonest statistics, says, "Venezuela likely has nothing to do with smuggling fentanyl into the US." That assessment is echoed by sources all across the political spectrum.
NPR has a partial list of elected officials including Republicans, bravely speaking out against, or at least questioning, Trump's illegal invasion. Jen Kiggans will not be joining them
Recently, in a letter to the editor of a Virginia newspaper, the writer accused Democrats of wanting to make the election "All about President Donald Trump", even though "the election is all about Virginia, not Trump"
Shortly after, Republican candidate Winsome Earle-Sears posted on Social Media, "I'd be honored to have President Trump campaign with me here in Virginia"
The writer is partially correct - the election is not "All about" Trump. But it is a lot about Trump and Republicans are the reason. While governors in other states are resisting Trump's use of federal forces against civilians, Virginia's Republican leadership happily supports it. Our attorney general Jason Miyares blatantly lied in support of the violation, comparing it to the L.A. riots of 1992 which was different because federal troops were requested by the governor.
When Trump delegated his authority to Elon Musk who cobbled together a band of idiot savants to fire tens of thousands of military veterans, many of whom were employed to help other veterans find jobs, Winsome Sears said she supports what Trump was doing, and laughed it off saying people lose jobs "all the time".
As Virginia's economy is disproportionately affected by Trump and Republicans' irresponsible policies, Jason Miyores refused to join a lawsuit against Trump's illegal tariffs.
All across the nation, state and local Republicans are looking for ways to prevent people from voting, including voter registration purges (which have been known to remove legitimate voters).
Donald Trump, taking election advice from Vladimer Putin, says he's going to eliminate mail in voting. He'll need support from state and local Republicans to get it done.
The greatest form of Trump derangement syndrome is the fealty that Republicans show to Donald Trump as inflation rises, jobs disappear, and civilians are rounded up and taken away by federal forces invading states against the will of the people who live there.
It's true that Virginia's upcoming election is about Virginia. But if we elect Republicans, Virginia will be all about Trump.
