Does this make you sick?: According to Forbes the Trump family's net worth has doubled since the 2024 election:

Crypto is the big driver, but additional funds have come from advising right-wing companies in America and partnering with cash-rich firms overseas, especially in the Middle East. Family members who never had significant fortunes of their own—Eric, Don Jr., Barron and Melania—have accumulated tens, then hundreds of millions of dollars. All told, the family (including the president’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner) is now worth an estimated $10 billion, having nearly doubled its net worth since last year’s election.

We Can Do Something !

We must do everything we can to stop these people. They get rich and Americans bear the burden.

From Jessica Craven: Here are some key facts on Trump’s economic failures, courtesy of Defending American Democracy. Make sure to share widely!

  • Trump’s tariffs will cost families an additional $2,400 this year.
  • The U.S. added just 22,000 jobs in August, while June revisions revealed the economy actually lost jobs that month.
  • U.S. factory orders fell 4.8% in June and construction spending collapsed.
  • Trump says he will put a 100% tariff on semiconductors.
  • Beef prices are hitting record highs, rising nearly 9% this year.
  • Electricity prices rose 6.5% in the last year.
  • Trump’s tariffs are expected to impact 75%of U.S. food imports.
  • Vegetable prices increased by nearly 40%from June to July.

Our chance to fight back!

The upcoming election is something we must win! We can’t just think all will be well, because if the Republicans are in power they will continue this man’s wishes. Republicans are not at all like a real political party now-they seem frightened to stand up for their constituents. * Let’s get out the vote. Canvass, be a poll worker, spread the word to friends and neighbors * Support the Suffolk Democratic Committee in all its efforts to get out the vote! * Call the campaign organizers and tell them you want to help. Every Vote Counts! Democrats Have Your Back!

Recently, in a letter to the editor of a Virginia newspaper, the writer accused Democrats of wanting to make the election "All about President Donald Trump", even though "the election is all about Virginia, not Trump"

Shortly after, Republican candidate Winsome Earle-Sears posted on Social Media, "I'd be honored to have President Trump campaign with me here in Virginia"

The writer is partially correct - the election is not "All about" Trump. But it is a lot about Trump and Republicans are the reason. While governors in other states are resisting Trump's use of federal forces against civilians, Virginia's Republican leadership happily supports it. Our attorney general Jason Miyares blatantly lied in support of the violation, comparing it to the L.A. riots of 1992 which was different because federal troops were requested by the governor.

When Trump delegated his authority to Elon Musk who cobbled together a band of idiot savants to fire tens of thousands of military veterans, many of whom were employed to help other veterans find jobs, Winsome Sears said she supports what Trump was doing, and laughed it off saying people lose jobs "all the time".

As Virginia's economy is disproportionately affected by Trump and Republicans' irresponsible policies, Jason Miyores refused to join a lawsuit against Trump's illegal tariffs.

All across the nation, state and local Republicans are looking for ways to prevent people from voting, including voter registration purges (which have been known to remove legitimate voters).

Donald Trump, taking election advice from Vladimer Putin, says he's going to eliminate mail in voting. He'll need support from state and local Republicans to get it done.

The greatest form of Trump derangement syndrome is the fealty that Republicans show to Donald Trump as inflation rises, jobs disappear, and civilians are rounded up and taken away by federal forces invading states against the will of the people who live there.

It's true that Virginia's upcoming election is about Virginia. But if we elect Republicans, Virginia will be all about Trump.

The following letter was submitted to a local paper by one of our members

I’ve been diving into the commercials of all the attorney general candidates, and I have to say, it’s been quite eye-opening!

One candidate keeps emphasizing that his opponent is soft on crime, yet I haven’t heard a clear plan from him. Personally, I want an Attorney General who stands by the Constitution — not just another yes man! After exploring both candidates' websites, it's evident that one is focused on dividing Virginia while the other is dedicated to finding real solutions to our pressing issues.

I am particularly impressed with Jay Jones and his proactive approach to tackle our problems head-on! His plan includes restoring a department-wide focus on targeting violent crime, drug trafficking, sexual abuse, and serious repeat offenses. Plus, he aims to expand violence interruption programs in more communities to address the root causes of gun violence and even create a Child Safety Unit within the Attorney General’s Office.

Because of Jay Jones's comprehensive plan of action, I'm excited to support someone who is truly smart on crime! Let's rally behind a candidate who prioritizes our community's safety and well-being!

Timelines for the One H.R.1, AKA the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) include those by:

Several provisions are set to be delayed until after the 2026 midterms, or before but so close to the midterms that we won't be feeling the effects yet when we had to the polls.

"But the majority will be staggered over the next several years, with the bulk notably going into effect after the 2026 midterm elections." -- us News

Such provisions include:

  • Limits on graduate student loans
  • New work requirements for Medicaid
  • New costs to be paid by Medicaid enrollees
  • Cuts to SNAP

The One Big Beautiful Bill is so horrible even Republicans argued against it, calling it "morally and fiscally bankrupt", and a "travesty" that would "explode the debt" before they caved to Trump and voted for it.

Today Jen Kiggans boasts about her vote.

We won't get to throw Jen Kiggans out of office until 2026 but it's still important to elect Democrats to statewide and local offices in November 2025. Doing so will:

  • Allow Democrats in Richmond to challenge unconstitutional provisions of H.R.1. that will be imposed on the states
  • Allow Democrats to find ways to mitigate the impacts of the treacherous bill
  • Send a message to the Trump administration and betrayers like Jen Kiggans that caving to Trump is not the winning strategy

Vote for our Democratic Candidates in 2025. Then in 2026 we'll rid ourselves of Jen Kiggans.
