Members - Join us on Signal
Although Signal became infamous for it's involvement in the most blatant disregard for operational security by high level officials in our nation's history - or at least the most blatant disregard since a Russian spy was invited into the oval office - or maybe just since classified documents were stored in cardboard boxes in a bathroom. Oh gosh - there are so many it's hard to sort it out.
But I digress.
Even though Signal has its problems, it's still a great platform for conversations, and members of the Suffolk Democratic Committee use Signal to stay in touch between meetings. Voting members and supporting members are invited to join in.
If you're a voting member or supporting member, please download Signal on your phone and let us know . After letting us know, if your membership checks out, we'll invite you to our general chat group.
Threats to democracy and our well-being happen too fast for us to wait until the next meeting to discuss them. Signal is one tool we can use to stay in touch between meetings and keep working to defend what we have achieved and to keep progressing to for a better nation and commonwealth.
Here are a couple of notes about installing and using Signal:
-
Make sure you install Signal from the Signal Foundation. Searches for Signal often include results from other apps like WhatsApp, Telegram, or other apps with "Signal" as part of their name.
-
In addition to our all-members chat group, you'll likely be invited to several other groups for various conversations. You can mute groups to limit the amount of buzzing from your phone.
-
Signal is extremely secure against electronic interception, but Signal has security vulnerabilities as well. So despite Signal's security, there is always a risk of conversations being seen by those who weren't supposed to see them.
