Black History Month Essay Contest

Topic Write about a current leader or activist who you believe will become an important figure in Black History

The contest of open to middle and high school students (grades 6 – 12) residing in Virginia’s 4th Congressional District. Students should submit their completed essays with name, school name, grade level, and home address to VA04.Projects@mail.house.gov no later than February 15, 20201.

Middle school students (grades 6-8) should submit an essay 350-500 words in length. High school students (grades 9-12) should submit an essay 500-750 words in length. Winners will be notified individually and announced on Congressman McEachin’s social media in February. The winners will also have their essay entered into the Congressional Records.
